Interactive Volta Quarter Model
One property development companies in Estonia, Endover, were eager to present their plans for an ex-factory area near the sea in Northen Tallinn. It is called Volta Quarter. To present the development in the whole quarter in a modern and new way they were open to do this interactively. So, the identical models of the buildings were 3d-printed. One of the buildings has been internally separated into sections and have LED-diodes in them. When chosen on the touchscreen, the selected LED-diode was lit inside the model. The other houses can be lit separately as a whole as the development has not yet reached to the point where more accurate mapping with the lights can be made.
The touchscreen picture has been mirrored to the wall where a ultra-short throw projector is mounted.
The final edge to the exhibit is given by edge-to-edge table projection that has been made by projecting two ultra-short throw projector images on top of the table from inside. The picture has been blended together and is seamless. On the picture, there is a “bird’s-eye view” animation of the future quarter – landscape architecture, walking people, playgrounds and driving cars.
